Police Takes Over Nasarawa Assembly Complex as Plots To Impeach Governor Al-Makura Thickens

Amidst impeachment plot against Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that police officers have taken over the premises of the State Assembly complex.

Sources revealed that over 50 mobile and anti-bomb experts were led to the complex by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu. He (Shehu) directed his men to screen all those going into the premises.

Furthermore, the Commissioner also asked the Clerk of Assembly, Maikeffi Ego to station an official who would be identifying genuine staff of the assembly to security personnel at the gate.

It was further revealed that the presence of security personnel at the complex was triggered by the plot to impeach Mr. Governor.

The house consist of 19 PDP and 5 APC members, as unconfirmed report states that 21 of the lawmakers have signed an impeachment notice that could be served on the governor before the end of today.

Though the executive arm has not made any statement on the rumoured impeachment notice, the Secretary to the State Government, Zainab Abdulmumini, on Sunday night revealed that government have accepted the resignation of the Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs to the governor, Hajara Danyaro, and the Managing Director of the state transport fleet, Philip Iyakwari.

The Assembly, which has been having a turbulent time with the executive, had few months ago directed Mr. Al-Makura, to sack the two political appointees for misconduct.
