Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  met with the Niger State Governor, Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu, as a way of formally inviting him to the party from PDP.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the host governor said the emergence of APC would engender the needed revolution to sanitize the nation’s political scene.

The governor, who received the APC Chieftains at the government house in Minna, commended the party leaders for their foresight, saying the emergence of the opposition party would bring the best out of 2015 general elections, as according to him, Nigerians would have the opportunity to have two major parties to seek for their favour.

“I said it that the coming together of the ACN, ANPP and CPC brought radicalism closer. The emergence of APC is a harbinger for a proper revolution, a revolution that will now sanitize the politics of Nigeria,” he said.

Governor Aliyu, who is the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and the leader of the G7 governors, said the ongoing revolution in the PDP is a way of helping to cleanse the party and the national polity.

“What is happening in our party, PDP, is the revolution that is catching up with the country. Many see it as an internal struggle, but it is a move to see that the party is cleansed”, he said.

However, on the invitation to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Babangida Aliyu said a conclusion would be reached by members of the G7 after the group must have met with President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over the state of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We have declared ceasefire because we are negotiating (and) after that, you can come with a blast. If we resolve, we will still be friends and if we don’t resolve, you will have as many of us as possible. As a group, we the G7 are people who keep to agreement,”

In his address, the Interim APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, said the party were in Niger State to express their solidarity for the governor, whom he said has not been treated fairly by the PDP.

“As the Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, you belong to a class of people that needs to be treated gently.

“Sadly, you are in a party that does not recognize quality of men, they don’t have respect for achievers and inculcate the habit of treating gentlemen badly.

“It’s a pity that the moment you started seeking for change in the conduct of your party, your party started treating you badly. We came to solidarize with you and ask you and the people of Niger state to join APC,” he said.

Chief Bisi Akande was accompanied on the visit by the party’s Deputy National Chairman and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari; National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed; and National Vice Chairman, South-South, Tom Ikimi.

Others were former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari (rtd); former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu; Senate Minority Leader and former Benue State Governor, George Akume; former Minister of Works, Hassan Lawal; former Edo State Governor, John Odigie-Oyegun; and former Minister of Labour, Musa Gwadabe.
