From Philippine, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that government has began serious preparation for the arrival of a category five storms named Typhoon Haiyan, expected to strike central parts of the country tomorrow (Friday).

It was revealed that schools and offices have already been closed in the region and thousands of people are being evacuated.

Meteorologist said the wind will make its landfall at around 01:00 GMT on Friday between Samar and Leyte, two of the Vasayan Islands in central Philippines, before moving over to the South China Sea north of Palawan Island on Saturday.

In its path are areas already struggling to recover from a 7.3-magnitude earthquake last month, including the worst-hit island of Bohol.

Around 5,000 people are still living in tents in Bohol after losing their homes in the quake, which killed more than 200 people.

Thousands of people within affected areas have been evacuated while food packages and other relieve goods have been transferred to meet their demands, while helicopters are on stand-by.
