Nigeria- An Ibadan-based interest group, Oyo Patriotic Front, (OPF) has deplored the presence of former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, at the first anniversary of the death of a former governor of the state, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina.

The group's chairman, Chief Jare Adepoju said in a statement in Ibadan on Tuesday that this was in consonance with Ladoja’s politics of reaping from where he did not sow.

According to OPF, Alhaji Adesina would turn in his grave on his anniversary day if he looked back and saw his two greatest political foes, Ladoja and Alao-Akala, whom it said were “stomping on Lam’s grave” and mocking the memory of the former governor.

“The presence of those two men, who constituted a very serious menace to Alhaji Lam while he was alive, was the greatest pollution and insult on the memory of that great man.

"We cannot forget in a hurry how Ladoja harangued the life of Great Lam continuously till his death. Ladoja was behind that unkind blow below the belt that was hurled on Lam where they said that the former governor was an Ebira man," it added.

Indeed, the group recalled that a few months before his death, Ladoja still hurled unprintable insults at Great Lam, saying " to now allow this same man to grandstand on Lam Adesina’s grave is a great disservice to his memory.”

While calling on the Adesina family not to allow those it called agents of destruction to reap where they did not sow, OPF urged the family to maintain the principle and philosophy of Adesina whom it said in his life time would not suffer fools gladly.

“Ladoja was a sworn enemy of Great Lam. Apart from using a combination of political deceit and untruth to sow the seed of discord among Great Lam’s teeming loyalists; he never hid his hatred for Lam’s populist politics.

"The same goes for his deputy, Alao-Akala. Baba detested their conservative politics and believed that they would run Oyo State aground if we did not rescue the state from them.

What they came to do at Felele on Monday was to literally dance on Lam’s grave,” the OPF said. The group said that scoring cheap political point at the demise of his traducers was typical of Ladoja’s brand of politics.

“He did same at the demise of Baba Lamidi Adedibu. The world knows that Ladoja hate Baba Adedibu to his bone marrow. He worked relentlessly for his political death and did all within his powers as governor to destroy the Ibadan political war lord," it said.

While urging the Adesina family to continue to nourish the progressive politics that Adesina lived and died for, the group said that with the performance of the progressive government anointed by the former governor before his death, the family should beware of “the hawks” Adesina fought all the days of his life and not allow them to use the family to destroy the home “Great Lam” built.
