The Nigeria-Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce has finally been launched on Wednesday 17 July, 2013 to boost trade and economic relation between both countries
The inauguration of the chamber of commerce is however perceived as a landmark event which formalized business relations and establishment of appropriate structures for trade between both countries.
The Sierra Leone President, Ernest Koroma in Abuja for the 43rd Ordinary of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government expressed acknowledgment for the contributions Nigeria soldiers made in restoring peace in Sierra Leone.
Koroma purported that with peace, democracy and transformation achieved, Sierra Leone is ready to explore business opportunities in collaboration with Nigeria
He further assured the business community of safe and peaceful business enterprise in Sierra Leone and also implores Nigerian Bank and Insurance Companies to grab the business opportunities already abound in Sierra Leone.
Koroma assured the business community that Sierra Leone was safe and peaceful and acknowledged that several Nigerian banks and insurance companies were already doing business there.
He pointed that great opportunities for investments abound in mining, agriculture and tourism sector of Sierra Leone economy.
Dr. Emmanuel Adedeji, the first Vice President of he chamber, who said the chamber would be a major source of business information and maintain a database of numerous local business and economic data on both countries, also pledged to improve trade relations between both countries.
