President Jonathan meets international investors in UK today

President Goodluck Jonathan will leave Abuja today for London, United Kingdom, where he will preside over a three-day meeting of Nigeria’s Honorary International Investors’ Council (HIIC).

A statement issued by the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, in Abuja, on Tuesday, said issues on the agenda of the meeting included generating long-term affordable finance for Nigeria’s real sector, developing Nigeria’s private equity and venture capital sectors to attract more foreign investments, as well as information and communications technology master-plan.

It noted that the meeting of the council, being coordinated by Baroness Lynda Chalker, would also feature a review of Nigeria’s existing investment policies by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Jonathan, according to the statement, would be accompanied by Governors Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta and Kashim Shettima of Borno; Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments, Dr Olusegun Aganga and the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Lamido Sanusi.

Others are the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke; Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson; Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo; Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki; Minister of State (Foreign Affairs), Professor Viola Onwuliri and others.
