Free Screening For Non Communicable Diseases Commenced In Lagos State

NIGERIA- A wellness health week where thousands of people are expected to have free access to screening and awareness for breast cancer, prostate cancer, hypertension, diabetes etc, is commencing in Lagos State, Nigeria, today.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the exercise being sponsored by the Lagos State Government is expected to come to an end on November 29, 2013. It would hold in all Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of the state.

Speaking about the event, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina said that the state, being the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, had peculiar environmental and other risk factors that predisposed residents to Non Communicable Diseases and the exercise aim to increase people’s level of awareness regarding the diseases.
