Mixed reactions have continued to trail the November 16th governorship election in Anambra state which was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking with CEOAFRICA news in Ibadan on Monday, a political analyst Mr. Kunle Okunoye stated that INEC shouldn’t be entirely blamed for the various electoral malpractices witnessed during the polls adding that the crisis between the All Progressive Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA)  and the Labor Party (LP) who are considered to be the main political parties in the state contributed to the irregularities witnessed during the polls.

He noted that the contestants should shun acts capable of undermining the process and also enlighten their supporters to act in accordance with the law as it is not a do or die affair.

The analyst further call on the INEC Chairman Prof. Attaihiru Jega to ensure that electoral materials get to the polling venues on time as well as ensure that well trained, honest, patriotic and non partisan officials are mobilized to manage the election.

Speaking on whether INEC can effectively conduct a free, fair and credible election for the 2015 general elections in the country based on how it handled the Anambra election, Mr. Okunoye stated that he believes that INEC can deliver adding that one cannot use what happened in just one state to judge what will happen in the general elections.

However, some residents who doesn’t want their name in print stated that INEC should not be allowed to conduct the 2015 elections based on the conducts of some of its officials in the Anambra elections adding that the body should be dissolved and a fresh body constituted to ensure a free and fair election.

They added that since the Anambra election was supposed to be a litmus test for INEC to showcase its readiness for the 2015 general election but failed, it should not be allowed to conduct the 2015 general election.
