From Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that German Company Siemens has won a contract worth just over $150 million to install the electricity supply for the deep-water port at Nacala-a-Velha.
The contract which was awarded by the Nacala Integrated Logistics Corridor (CLIN) includes installing a high voltage substation and several transformers.
Eighty per cent of the shares in CLIN belong to the Brazilian mining giant Vale, while the rest belongs to the Mozambique Port and Rail Company, CFM.
Meanwhile, another contract worth $38 million was awarded to the global engineering and construction company Kentz by CLIN for the erection of export terminal’s steel structures, coupled with installation of electrical. The company is also expected to mount 13 kilometres of conveyor belts, assemble and install 14,000 tonnes of equipment including rail car tippers, stackers, reclaimers and ship loader cranes.
