Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state has described the resurgence of kidnapping in the state as worrisome.

He stated this while speaking to the Ogbia Council of Chiefs during his 'thank you tour' of the Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.

The governor stated that it is sad that there are some few elements that are collaborating with others to tarnish their efforts to build a peaceful and secure society for the people.

Recalling the latest incidents, he listed the kidnapping of a sister of a presidential aide Oronto Douglas, and of the wife and child of Chief Gbalipre Turner, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He further noted that just last week, kidnappers also abducted the aged father of the Commissioner for Tourism, Nelson Belief, in his family home near Akassa, in Brass LGA of the state.

The governor said the frequency of the criminal acts has become worrisome to the government and people of the state, adding that it is particularly sad when viewed against the efforts of his administration to build an atmosphere where peace and security reigned.

He however enjoined the people to condemn this criminality because his administration will not play politics with law and order.
