Ivory Coast’s government appeals for calm.

Ivory Coast's government led by President Allasane Quattara has appealed for calm after troops mutinied in three cities over non-payment of salaries and bonuses.

Ceoafrica gathered that, the government have informed soldiers to return to barracks and establish talks with them.

The soldiers mutinous actions led to closure of businesses and schools in Bouake, Korhogo and Daloa, the three cities where the soldiers took to the streets.

It was further gathered that in Bouake and Daloa, Soldiers have been driving around firing shots into the air, in which most of the mutineers were former members of the Forces Nouvelles rebel group, who had been integrated into the army after the civil war in Ivory Coast ended in 2011.
