The Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda on Saturday disclosed that contract

appointment has been abolished, while over  50 Nigerians from other states across the country were offered job by the government to ensure genuine unity and indivisibility of the country.

Responding to his official installation as Obasayero of Oyo Empire by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111 held at Aganju Forecourt, Aafin Oyo, Oyo State, he said the unity of the country was not negotiable.

Yuguda, whose four wives, Aisha, Mariya, Abiodun and Nafisa were also conferred with the titles of Yeyeloyin Obasayero, Yeyeniwura Obasayero, Yeye Obasayero and Yeyedunni Obasayero of Oyo Empire respectively said the day would remain memorable in his life.

He disclosed that the action of Alaafin had lent credence to the generally held view that the traditional institution holds the hope for the continued existence of Nigeria as a united entity, adding, “to describe your majesty as a great bridge builder in this regard is an understatement. “As a government, we are also of the view that Nigeria must continue to survive as a united, sovereign, indivisible nation living in peace and economic prosperity.

“As a practical demonstration of this stand, our government has abolished contract appointment for Nigerians from other states. All Nigerians, irrespective of their states of origin are now given permanent and pensionable appointment in Bauchi State”, the governor said. He disclosed also that his administration had offered political appointments ranging from Personal Assistants to Advisers to 50 Nigerians from other states across the country.

According to him, Speaking, Alaafin said the event was a confirmation of “our kindred spirit and age old diplomatic relationship between us. The crisis of the Nigerian state has assumed frightening and bewildering dimensions threatening our corporate existence as a country. “The national question has thus far remained unresolved, one hundred years after amalgamation, making calls for a sovereign national conference strident.

“The popularity of the clamour for a national conference by whatever name so called testifies to the failure of past efforts to build a Nigerian state out of a polyglot of ethnic nationalities”, Oba Adeyemi stated.
