Today 3rd February marks the second day of the Olatoye Sugar Foundation (OSF) free medical care and surgery programme organised as part of the annual OSF 2017 Valentine’s Day Celebration by Honourable Olatoye Temitope Sugar who represents Lagelu / Akinyele Federal Constituency.

As part of the effort to improve the health conditions of the poor masses, the health programme which commenced yesterday is targeted at conducting free medical treatments and surgery for 2000 people in Oyo State starting from 2nd February to 19th February.

Today’s programme which was held at Our Lady of Apostle Catholic Hospital, Oluyoro, Oke-Offa Ibadan – the designated hospital for the free health scheme – was attended by throngs of people who were attended to by the medical officials on ground.

Beneficiaries of the programme who came for eye treatment explained to CEOAfrica that they have been tested by doctors and that those who require surgery will be informed about the date of surgery. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Samuel, showing her card and test result said “I have been tested by the doctors; they took down my particulars and told me they will contact me when my surgery is booked.”

Other patients who reported that they had fibroid were also tested, however the test results revealed that most of them did not have fibroid.  As a result of this, the Health officials and the OSF officials directed that those who register for the treatment of fibroid should bring a copy of their ultra sound scan results which will serve as proof that they have fibroid.

An official of the foundation, Mr Adeyemo explained that most of the tests conducted showed that some of the participants of the programme who claimed to have fibroid did not have it. He added that in order to make the programme more organised, patients who are certain that they have the ailment should come with a copy of a scan test which shows that they have the ailment.

While addressing a group of participants, Mr Adeyemo stated that the free surgery scheme is organised for those who actually have these ailments not those who are unsure of their health status. He noted that providing a scan result proving a case of fibroid will make the process faster and easier for both beneficiaries and organisers of the scheme.

He also stated that those whose scan results show that they have fibroid will be documented and contacted for information about the surgery date, adding that everyone who is diagnosed to have any ailment will be given proper treatment.

The participants of the scheme expressed their appreciation of the laudable efforts of Hon. Sugar and prayed for more blessings for him.
