The government of Egypt led by Abdel Fatth el-sisi, are trying to broker an end to the war in Libya, which they say has been successful in bringing two key players, together.
According to Ceoafrica, the head of the UN-backed government, Fayez Serraj and his rival, the powerful military commander, Khalifa Haftar have agreed to form a joint committee.
It will aim to work out a power-sharing agreement that would be followed by elections within a year.
However, the two men never met face-to-face during the negotiations in Cairo; speculations emerge that given the lack of trust between them, it's unclear how successful the new joint committee will be.
