Following his impressive performance at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup where he got four goals to his credit, Super Eagles Team B invitee, Taiwo Awoniyi has his readiness to justify his invitation by Coach Stephen Keshi.

Last Thursday, Keshi released a 30-man list of home-based players which would prosecute the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and three members of the victorious U-17 team were added to the party. They are Goalkeeper Dele Alampasu, Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Awoniyi then promised to do his best during the camping exercise.

“I have to first of all thank God. This invitation is not because I am the best among the Golden Eaglets team, but it was by God’s grace.

“However, once you are given an opportunity, you have to put in your best. So, I will do all I can to make the team by God’s grace.’’ He said.

Awoniyi got two goals against Sweden, one each at the group phase and Semi-Final and two against Uruguay in the Quarter-Final.

Nigeria will play alongside hosts South Africa, Mali and Mozambique in Cape Town in the competition’s first round.
