Halima Dangote, daughter of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has canvassed empowerment for women in the on-going social media week, during the ‘Women in Technology’ session, that the Dangote group sponsored.
According to Ceoafrica, the canvass is part of the group’s women empowerment initiatives and sustained drive towards showcasing innovative women-led technology entrepreneurs.
A release from the Corporate Communication department of the Dangote Group, signed by Mr Esan Sunday, stated that Halima, the Executive Director at the Dangote Industries Limited while speaking at the session, premised the group’s support for women’s leadership in technology on the need to “sustainably integrate and empower women in the wave of digital globalization that is redefining humanity”.
The statement said further that she ignited insightful conversations on the convergence of leadership, technology advancement and gender parity, and that she highlighted the multiplier effect any investment made in women and girls had on economies and called for more deliberate women participation in key leadership roles, specifically in the ICT space, reputed to be traditionally dominated by men.
