Alhaji Kunle Hamzat, a Human Resource Consultant, a job out-source expert and muslim cleric has described the present administration of the Oyo State government led by Abiola Ajimobi as a disappointment.

This disclosure was made in an exclusive interview with CEOAfrica Television on the programme ‘Community Today’ by Alhaji Hamzat who expressed his displeasure at some of the unfulfilled promises made by the present administration of the Oyo state government.

While accessing the achievements of Governor Ajimobi’s administration, Alhaji Hamzat who is a native of Oyo State stated that he is saddened by the ‘promise and fail’ attitude of Nigerian politicians.

According to him, “Politicians lie a lot during their campaign. While running for positions, they make unattainable promises – which they have no intention to keep after they get into power – in order to amass large votes.”

Alhaji Hamzat stated that he is unhappy about the fact most public officials during their second term in office usually renege on their promises and perform below standard when compared to their first term in office.

He said “Political office holders usually perform poorly in their second term in office. During their first term they perform very well possibly because they need the vote of the people in order to get into the offices the second time.

“During the second term, they basically neglect their promises; forget about serving the people who voted them in and even on-going projects which they started during their first term get abandoned.”

“Why would you even run for a seat if you have nothing to offer? If people cannot feel your impact anymore, you are no longer relevant. Politicians should therefore serve the interest of people in the best capacity possible at all times, whether first or second term,” he advised.

However, efforts made by CEOAfrica to get the reaction of the Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Communication and Strategy, Mr Yomi Olayinka on the issue proved abortive as calls and messages put through to him were not responded to as at the time of filing this report.

Speaking about his relationship with the former President Olusegu Obasanjo, Alhaji Hamzat stated that he shares a cordial relationship with the ex-president. “He is like a father to me and I particularly respect him for his wisdom.

“Many men of his age can no longer make coherent sense but Chief Obasanjo despite his age is still sharp-minded and very full of intelligence. In fact I spend my Christmas day with him every year learning from him and gaining from his intelligence,” he said.

While accessing the efforts of the federal government to tackle the prevailing economic depression, Alhaji Hamzat commended the Buhari-led administration for the policies it has put in place to pull the economy out of its current debacle.

He expressed optimism that the country’s economy will recover stating that “We are only going through this unpleasant phase in order to enjoy a better future and the better future is knocking at our door. Very soon, we will begin to enjoy a vibrant economy.”

Alhaji Hamzat hinted of a likely intention to serve the people in a bigger capacity at the federal level when the time is right. He said “I am currently involved in serving the people but I intend to serve the people in a bigger capacity and if my people want me to serve them at the Federal level, then I will.”
