SENATOR ABIOLA AJIMOBI, EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE

OYO GOV. VOWS TO MAKE ITS INSTITUTIONS WORLD CLASS

In a bid to ensure a world class status in the committee of tertiary institutions, Oyo state government has promised to harness its human and material resources to give excellent delivery to the state- owned tertiary institutions.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Solomon Olaniyonu during familiarization tour of state- owned tertiary institutions in the state, assuring that challenges facing the institutions would be addressed.

The commissioner visited Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho main campus, Oyo State College of Agriculture,Igboora, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education,Oyo and Lanlate campuses.

According to him, the present administration in the state is committed to making education one of the cornerstones of his administration more than ever before.

He said the tour became necessary for the government to have an on the spot assessment of facilities on ground and to identify the challenges facing the various institutions so as to proffer solutions to the challenges.

The commissioner while acknowledging the constraints of infrastructures, release of capital grants, promised to mitigate these challenges confronting the institutions and also make necessary recommendations to the governor.

On the issue of inadequate staffing at the institutions, he assured of adequate staffing and also emphasized that for any organization to have a multiplier effect, it's human resources must be idealistic. Olaniyonu therefore pledged the support of the state government on the provision of needed infrastructures while the issue of principal officers in acting capacity will soon be a thing of the past.

Acknowledging the achievements made by the various institutions however, the commissioner charged them not to relent in their quest to move the institutions to greater heights and also to support the Ajimobi- led administration in tackling the various challenges in the education sector
in order to place education in its rightful position.
