In the Federal Government’s (FG) bid to enable the Federal Ministry of Agriculture led by Audu Ogbeh, to finalise some arrangements for its National Council summit, and for commissioners to come up with better results, it has postponed the summit.

According to Ceoafrica, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Bukar Hassan disclosed this about the summit, which was initially scheduled to hold between March 20 and March 24 in Umuahia, the Abia State’s capital.

Hassan announced the postponement during a meeting with state Commissioners for Agriculture, in Abuja, yesterday.

The permanent secretary, who expressed regret over the inconveniences the postponement might have caused participants, said a new date would be communicated to the states.

The National Council summit on Agriculture was last held in Kano State in February, 2016.

The aim of the summit is to review and come up with a viable document on national agricultural policy to help the country attain self-sufficiency in food production for consumption and export.
