Niger to upgrade NYSC orientation camp

Niger State has directed the immediate upgrading of dilapidated facilities at the temporary National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp located in Paiko, the headquarters of Paikoro local government of the state. At the opening ceremony of the 2017 Batch ‘A’ pre-mobilization workshop yesterday in Minna, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello promised that the corps members and the staff hostels will be given immediate attention.

Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Ketso, the governor promised that priority would also be given to construction of the permanent orientation camp in the course of the year. He also directed the commencement of the payment of the state monthly allowance to corps members serving in the state, which was stopped by the immediate-past administration.

Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Sule Zakari Kazaure, in his address said the peer mobilization workshop is a regular platform for bringing together all the critical stakeholders in the mobilization process. He commended the state government for its unwavering support, especially in the area of corps welfare and material support.

In her remark, the state coordinator, Mrs. Theresa Ibukun Arokoyo, commended the visionary leadership of the Director-General which has put the scheme on a steady course of qualitative change.
