Army defends officers' promotions

The Nigerian Army has defended the promotion of officers, saying that it was based on merit. Speaking during the decoration of five newly promoted officers, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigeria Army, Odogbo, Ibadan, on Thursday, Major General Ahmed Jibrin, said that the occasion was enough to merit the exalted position.

 

According to him, promotion has been a routine in the army and those who merited it has worked for it. "I believe the newly decorated will continue to work hard to justify another rank in the next three years," he said.

 

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted Brigadier Gen francis Akanji, thanked the GOC for the honour done on them."We are using this medium to thank the division and promising to use our new position to take army to a greater height.

 

The newly promoted officers were Francis Akanji, Olusola Oni, Ajibade Adeyemi,Sagir yaro and Emmanuel kabal.
