NIGERIA (Abuja) – First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has debunked a report in one of the dailies that she threatened the Peoples Democratic Party Governors over the National Chairman, Alh. Bamanga Tukur.

The above declaration was revealed in a statement by the Director of Information to the First Lady, Ayo Adesugba, stressing Her Excellency’s regret that some people still choose to promote hatred above love in this season of goodwill.

She said the report with the title, First Lady Threatens PDP Governors Over Tukur, though quoted an unnamed source, never made attempt to contact her office to get reaction.

According to sources, the report claimed that Mrs. Jonathan met with some governors of the PDP, urging them to support Tukur in his quest to retain his position.

The report also claimed she discussed with the Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, the Akwa Ibom Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, and the Abia State Governor, Dr. Theodore Orji.

Adesugba then urged members of the alleged media to be more mature in reporting and adhere to the basic ethics of journalism by being fair, factual and balanced in their dealings.
