The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has received an approval of N10billion fund from President GoodLuck Jonathan for Cassava Bread Development. This statement was made by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina who also announced the President readiness to launch the Youth Employment Agricultural Programme called the Nagropreneurs. Adesina also reveals that the Ministry has already drawn up plans to use the fund in the support of research and development efforts on cassava bread, training of master bakers and support for them to acquire new equipment for production. He also stated that Jonathan has volunteered to be actively involved in the programme of creating employment through value-chains of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA). Greyne Anosike, the Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations said the fund will set off the Ministry’s target for the Nation to achieve food security, noting that self-sufficiency in food production is a task the Ministry must accomplish.
