UNILORIN Gives iPads To Students In January, 2014

NIGERIA (Kwara) – University of Ilorin will, as from January 2014, distribute free iPad to students as part of its efforts to be fully digitalized.

This was revealed yesterday by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Emmanuel Obafemi, who said the lecturers, through this iPads, would be able to send assignments to their students via the Internet, while students would be able to reply through the same channel.

 “As from January 2014, University of Ilorin lecturers would be able to send assignments to their students through the Internet from the comfort of their homes,” he said.

He noted that the iPads which was ordered from the U.S, were already fully loaded with the students’ courses and each student would get one as they resume in January.

Mr. Obafemi also explained that the university has subsidized the prices of the iPads because they were produced in large quantity, adding that the whole institution was already connected to the Internet.

He expressed the readiness of the institution’s administration to make the university one of the best in Nigeria and Africa.

 “If you come here in another five months, you will see a positively different Unilorin and well managed institution,” Mr. Obafemi said.

He commended the management of the institution and expressed delight in the fact that the university had not gone on strike in 13 years.
