Court sentences 11 suspected political thugs in Bauchi

A Magistrate court sitting in Bauchi has sentenced eleven suspected political thugs popularly known as Sara-Suka to various jail terms with an option of fine.

According to a statement by the Bauchi State's Police command's spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed, the 11 suspects were arrested on 6th May,2017 by a  Police Patrol Team attached to Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) during the flag off of constituency projects by Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The suspects were subsequently arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court 3 Bauchi on 9th May, 2017.

"Nine Suspects were charged for Criminal Conspiracy and thuggery, pleaded guilty and sentenced to One year Six months imprisonment or pay option of Fifty Three Thousand Naira (#53,000).

According to the statement, two of the suspects who also pleaded guilty, were charged for causing hurt and thuggery summarily convicted and sentenced to one year seven months imprisonment each,"said the statement.

The statement however informed that the suspects were also ordered to pay compensation of N15,000 to the victim or serve a Prison Sentence.
