The interim Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, has described this year’s Christmas celebration as a special one and advised Nigerian Christians to deeply reflect on its significance. He said in a statement in Port Harcourt: “As the birthday celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ, Christmas is an occasion when we should pause and reflect on the significance of Christ’s birth, without which there would not have been salvation for us children of Adam and Eve.

“For us Nigerians, this year’s Christmas assumes even more significance as it is coming almost exactly a month after the birth of the new APC formed as a result of the merger of the party with the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP).”Ikanya appealed to Christians to remember to pray for APC as they throng the churches for the Christmas services. “The task which we have undertaken, which is the liberation of the country from the clutches of PDP, is one which we cannot accomplish on our own strength alone, hence the need for Nigerians to pray for God to give us the needed grace to see this divine mission to a successful conclusion”.

The Rivers State interim APC Chairman wished all Nigerians Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2014.He concluded by expressing his profound gratitude to the people of Rivers State, Governor Amaechi and the entire leadership of PDP for making the rally of 23rd December, 2013 held in the Liberation Stadium Port Harcourt an assiduous one thereby proven to the PDP and other parties that Rivers State is now an APC State.

He enjoined PDP faithful that joined the train of APC during the rally to be rest assured that together we shall liberate our state from the enclave of evil-minded fellows that want to make the state ungovernable.
