Two killed, 16 wounded in Plateau church attack

On New Year day,two people were killed while 16 others were injured by suspected gunmen at Maiakworigold Maikatako village in Bokkos local government council of Plateau State.

 

One other person was killed in Manguna area in the same Bokkos local government council on the eve of 2014.

 

CEOAFRICA news gathered that gunmen stormed COCIN Church, Maiakworigold Maikatako, during the cross over night and started shooting sporadically, killing two people on the spot, and wounding 16 others.

 

An eye witness, who spoke to CEOAFRICA correspondent in Jos, said gunmen stormed the church during the cross over night and began to shoot at random, leaving two people dead and about 16 people injured.

 

He said the injured victims were rushed to different hospitals for treatment.

 

The speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and the member representing Bokkos State constituency, Hon. Titus Ayuba Alams, also confirmed that two people were killed while 16 people sustained injuries.

 

According to him, five people are receiving treatment at the Plateau State specialist hospital and are in stable condition, while 11 people were receiving treatment at Barkin Ladi general hospital.

 

He commended the security operatives for their effort, while urging them to do everything in their power to fish out perpetrators the nefarious act.

 

The speaker also appealed to youths in the area to remain calm and report any suspicious movement to law enforcement agents in their area.

 

He further urged them to first of all secure themselves before securing their community, advising them to avoid late night gatherings.
