Oyo State Governor Pardons 5 Condemned Prisoners, and 16 Other Inmates to Commemorate New Year

NIGERIA (Oyo) –Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has, in commemoration of new year, pardoned a total of 21 prisoners in the state.

In a statement released from the office of the governor, yesterday, the affected prisoners included five condemned, four inmates with life sentence and 12 convicts, who are in prison for various offences.

The five condemned prisoners are Bashiru Popoola, Mukaila Salawu, Obinna John, Idowu Emmanuel and Wahab Alao.

The four on life imprisonment are Oba Adeyemo, Isaac Ogunniyi, Gabriel Ojetayo and Lukman Ajibola.

The other 12 are Wasiu Rasheed, Ajayi Akeem, Lati Balogun, Bisiriyu Olalekan, Joke Sunday, Kazeem Oladeji, Okunola Mathew, Tijani Ganiyu, Saheed Sikiru, Segun Amao, Rasheed Taiwo and Ademola Aloba. Their release takes immediate effect.
