The Niger Delta Buhari Youth is scheduled to hold a summit on the theme “The Role of Good Governance engendered in Addressing Key Pertinent Issues in the Niger Delta Region.’’

Coordinator, Peace Renaissance Enhancement Initiative (PREI), Mr Okosigeme Daniel, who made this known while speaking, in Abuja, on Thursday, stated that the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour at the summit

Daniel said the summit, which is scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt on Aug. 25, will draw thousands of youths from Akwa Ibom, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers States.

He also said the former Governor of Edo, Adams Oshiomole, will be the key-note Speaker while the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, will be the chief host.

Daniel said the summit would address pertinent issues concerning the Niger Delta and the role of the Federal Government in ensuring issues relating to the development of the region were resolved.

“It is aimed at correcting the notion of dejection due to the absence of an elaborate forum to discuss key issues affecting the region

“The summit is a solidarity/complementary measure as to consolidate on government/leadership efforts engendered on developmental strides.’’

He also said it would sensitise youths of the Niger Delta on the achievements of the Federal Government in the region, in order to douse disbelief, tension, disruption and vandalism going on there.

He added that it was also aimed to project regional leadership qualities of leaders as a united political formation for good governance in Nigeria.

The organisation will, at the summit, also confer distinguished leadership awards on prominent personalities who worked hard to develop the region.

Daniel added that the summit will, henceforth, become an annual event.
