The management of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi state has shut down the school following the killing of one of its students by suspected robbers.
It was gathered that an HND II Computer Science student of the polytechnic, who is an indigene of Otukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, Gabriel Adikwu was stabbed to death in his Chelsea lodge at about 9pm on Saturday by robbers.
Following the death of Adikwu, there were mounting tensions in the institution as some students protested over the incident and damaged polytechnic’s clinic facilities.
Personal Assistant to the Rector of the Polytechnic, Simon Omale, who confirmed the incident, said the management of the polytechnic has shut down the institution until August 6 for the situation to calm down.
Omale, who expressed sadness over the tragic death of the student, said his remains had been taken home for burial.
