The Caretaker Chairman of Irepodun Local Council Development area (LCDA) Mr Abolaji Abayomi said that strive for excellence and service to his people made him venture into politics.
Speaking at an exclusive interview on ‘’Community Today’’ an Online Television Programme on CEOAfrica, Mr Abayomi stated that his few months in office as the Irepodun LCDA Caretaker Chairman so far has been good albeit with some challenges.

While reacting on how the LCDA has been able to generate revenue for its operation, Mr Abolaji said that though they have not started receiving grants from the state government but his team has been able to look inward and draw out some plans and have started sensitizing their people who are going to be taxed not to see it as burden but as a means to bring about development in the LCDA in the time being.
Appreciating the efforts of the Oyo State Governor, Mr Abolaji described Governor Abiola Ajimobi as a blessing to the people of the state whose achievements cannot be down played. ‘’His achievements are visible to the eyes and audible to the ears. He is the only governor who increased workers salary by 300 per cent, housing allowance by 100 per cent and workers loan by 150 per cent. Oyo people will continue to celebrate his legacy just like Awolowo is being celebrated today,’’ he said.

He refuted rumours making round that governor Ajimobi do not want to conduct local government council election for the fear that APC will lose out in the election. He explained that what is preventing the governor from conducting election is the current litigation in court on the creation of LCDA.
Expressing his opinion about the participation of youths in politics and governance, Mr Abolaji stated that the ‘Not Too Young to Run’ bill is a welcome idea in the sense that younger people now have sense of belonging in politics and are given opportunity to run for elective positions in the local, state and federal level. He however cautioned that the older politicians should not be despised.
