Man Charged to Court For Obtaining N10,000 Under Pretence

NIGERIA (Ogun) – A 38-year old man, Wasiu Yusuf, has been arraigned at the Sango-Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly obtaining N10,000 under false pretence.

Speaking during the court session, the prosecutor, Olajide Michael, said the accused committed the offence on October 17, 2013 at Kudi-Owo Bus Stop in Ota.

According to him, the accused obtained the money from the complainant, Kamoru Azeez, under the pretext of repairing his vehicle.

He said the offence contravened Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Revised Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.

The Magistrate, Titi Bello, said the surety should be resident within the court’s jurisdiction. She said Mr. Yusuf should show evidence of tax payment to Ogun as part of the bail conditions.

The case was adjourned to January 31.
