ZAMBIA- The Lusaka City Market drivers has staged a protest against the council’s decision to increase the loading fee in city market per trip for their bus.
This was triggered by the council’s decision to increase the loading fare from K20 to K25 as drivers refused to operate in the station until the decision is reversed.
The drivers said they made K68 per trip and knocking off K25 before they could even buy fuel was a sure way of making their work impossible.
However, the Lusaka City Council has remained adamant saying the increase was approved by a full council meeting.
The drivers have vowed to load their buses outside City Market until the increase is reversed.
They said that they will be forced to increase fares if their call was not heeded.
