SOMALIA – A Somali soldier, Maslah Isse Jimaan, has been executed in Mogadishu on Monday, following a military court’s judgement which convicts him of murdering a school pupil last year.
CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the execution process was watched by many people, including children at the Police Academy in the city.
The convicted soldier was said to have shot Omar Mohamed Ahmed in the Mogadishu’s main market, Bakara, during a security force operation last year.
A firing squad of more than 10 policemen and soldiers were seen in the photographs taking positions, before Jimaan, blindfolded and tied to a pole, was shot dead in front of the crowd.
Speaking about the development, the military court chairman, Libaan Ali Yarow, said Jimaan deserves the capital punishment for violating the military code, adding that he was unaware that the execution happened in front of children.
