In fulfilment of the social responsibility of alleviating hunger and poverty caused by the country’s harsh economic conditions, Honourable Temitope Olatoye Sugar in conjunction with the Olatoye Sugar Foundation (OSF) and other development partners are set to commence the free distribution of food items to the people of Oyo State.

According to a statement made available to CEOAfrica by the Foundation, Hon Sugar, an Honourable representing Lagelu/Akinyele Constituency at the Federal House of Representative, under the auspice of his foundation – OSF – will also begin the production and distribution of basic food items below the market price.

While noting that the ravaging economic hardship in the country has reduced the standard of living of Nigerians, OSF stated that its mission is to empower the Nigerian masses in a way that will raise their standard of living and eradicate poverty in the country, which is the reason for embarking on distribution of free food items at the grass root level.

The event which is tagged: ‘Rice Dr Sugar’, ‘Garri Dr Sugar’ and ‘Bread Dr Sugar’ will commence today and will hold at the 33 Local Government Areas in Oyo State. The Foundation stated that food items such as bags of rice, bags of garri, and loaves of bread will be distributed, adding that the distribution will commence at Lagelu and Akinyele Constituencies.

The statement reads in part: “Our dear Pace Setter, Oyo State is taking the lead with significant difference as we shall immediately commence free distribution of food items to all 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State to alleviate economic crunch at the grass root level.”

CEOAfrica recalls that in February, 2017, Honourable Olatoye Sugar embarked on a free health care scheme where 2000 beneficiaries in Oyo State were given free treatment for different ailments like; fibroid, cataract, hernia and others. The Honourable also celebrated the 2017 Valentine’s Day with People Living with Disabilities where he distributed free prosthetic legs, wheelchairs, food items and other gifts to beneficiaries.

Just recently, CEOAfrica also reported that Hon Sugar commissioned blocks of classrooms at Arikuyeri Community in Lagelu Local Government, Oyo State. Hon Sugar stated during the commissioning that education of children as well as the empowerment of youth and the elderly are pre-requisites for the country’s sustainable development. He noted that these duties are the collective responsibilities of every citizen and should not be left for the government alone.
