Politician, Two Others Arrested for Oil Theft in Akwa Ibom State

NIGERIA (Akwa Ibom) – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has arrested a politician and two other suspects in connection with an alleged oil theft in Ikot basi, Akwa Ibom State.

According to the Commandant of the Corps in the state, Mr. Pedro Ideba, the culprits used sophisticated method in committing the act.

Ideba, who refused to disclose the identity of the politician, said the suspects were caught while adulterating petroleum products.

β€œIn the process of mixing the chemicals, we arrested two tankers using hydrometer in testing the premium of the products,” he said.

Items recovered from the suspects, according to Ideba, were a Mercedes Benz car, pumping machine and two tankers, adding that suspects were arrested on Ibiakpan Junction in Ikot Ekpene-Itu road.
