NIGERIA (Taraba)- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed February 22, 2014 as the day when the bye-election into the vacant House of Assembly seat for Takum 1 constituency in the state shall hold.

In a statement issued in Jalingo by the state’s INEC Administrative Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Baba, the collection of nomination forms would start on February 8, while deadline for submission has been fixed for February 15.

“On February 16, 2014, INEC will publish personal particulars of candidates ahead of the elections on Saturday, February 22, 2014,” the statement said.

The seat became vacant following the death of the member representing the constituency at the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Tsokwa, who, until his death, was the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly.

He was aged 47.
