Former Commissioner for Information in Ondo State, Ranti Akerele is dead. The erstwhile Commissioner died early on Tuesday morning at his residence in Akure, Ondo State, southwest Nigeria.

There was no report of the former Commissioner being ill before his sudden demise. It was reported that Akerele even drove his wife to the First Mercy Hospital in Akure on Monday evening where the wife was placed on admission. After that, he had a prayer meeting with some of his church members.

He was also reported to have woken up hale and hearty on Tuesday morning, shaved and had his bath before his sudden death. Unconfirmed report linked the death to heart attack.

The late Akerele’s remains have deposited at the morgue of First Mercy Hospital, The deceased former Commissioner was reported to be 54 years old and survived by his wife and two sons.
