Market Apprentice killed in Ibadan

An apprentice identified as Kazeem Ola Mummy was on Saturday night killed during a crisis which broke out among some power generating set traders at the popular Ogunpa Market, Ibadan.  Officers of the Oyo State Police Command on Sunday averted another crisis following the death of the apprentice. It was gathered that fight broke out within some power generating set traders following the death of one of them but for the quick intervention of the police.

According to source, the death was as a result of an argument between Kazeem and a colleague, following disagreement on the sharing formula from one of the day's deal.

Sources within the market revealed that Kazeem and his colleague were to share a proceed of N5,000 generated from one of their customers who they assisted in loading a diesel engine. The duo were said to have exchanged heated words which eventually resulted into fisticuffs between them.

kazeem was reported to have suffered a deep injury as a result of him being hit with a sharp object on the neck. He was rushed to a nearby Hospital, Mobolaji Hospital and later Ibadan central

Hospital, where he eventually gave up the ghost. On confirmation of Kazeem's death, his friends who felt they must avenge the death of their colleague swoop on the suspect's boss and were allegedly accused of destroying some products in his shop, setting burn fire and driving people away from their shops.

The remains of Kazeem had since been buried at Apata on Sunday. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo Police Command, Olabisi Ilobanafor who confirmed the death,  said situation had been brought under control.
