NIGERIA (Oyo)- A Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, has expressed his belief that Professor Attairu Jega led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct credible elections in 2015.

He said this in Ibadan last week during an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA online news.

The Senator, who is also a lawyer by profession, said the INEC boss’ competency and credibility should not be based on the outcome of the November governorship election in Anambra state which was marred with irregularities and controversies.

“It was so clear to all and sundry that the election in Anambra is a vast because we’ve all been part of election process there are procedure and processes to follow and in the case of Anambra a lot of processes were not followed, a lot were not done while some were wrongly done, so whole things were badly done and am very sure that at appropriate place, time, the right thing will be done concerning that election because it affect future election that we’ll have.

”I’m glad that the man at the helm of affairs has apologized to Nigerians, I hope year 2015 will be better.

He added that as a man of integrity, Jega will not allow a repeat of flaws recorded in Anambra election in 2015.

“Am an optimistic person, I have lots of respect for him (Jega), he has proven himself as a man of integrity but what went wrong there, I believe, might have caught him unaware and I hope he will not allow that again.” Lanleyin said.
