Oyo governor's wife calls for empowerment of grass root women

The wife of the Executive Governor of Oyo state, Mrs Florence Ajimobi (JP), has called for the empowerment of women at the grass roots to enable them stand on their feet. Mrs Ajimobi made the call at the meeting of the All Progressive congress (APC) Women's forum held in Abuja on Monday evening.

The first lady in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Yejide Gbenga-Ogundare on Tuesday stated that women at the grassroot need to be empowered to be financially dependent

 

According to her, it is when women are adequately empowered that they can build their confidence and stand up against intimidation from their male counterparts. "Women are not asking for too much, they just want to live a good life and be able to support their family. They need to be empowered to gain recognition and also be relevant in the society," Mrs Ajimobi stated.

She added that women should unite irrespective of political or religious affiliation to improve their lot in the society and make clear demands in one voice to create a better society for their children .

Mrs Ajimobi further called on women leaders at the local, state and national levels to work together and strengthen their ties so that women across the country will not only get necessary empowerment but will also have a pride of place in the society .
