ASUU reiterates determination to monitor MoU with FG

The newly elected chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) University of Ibadan branch, Dr Olusegun Ajiboye yesterday reiterated the determination of the union to monitor strictly the implementation of the new MoU signed with federal government on the revatilization of universities.

Highly vocal ASUU Chairman while speaking after his re-election for second term, assured Nigerians of the resolve of the union to ensure that funds disbursed to universities were monitored and judiciously utilized.

Ajiboye who was a distinct vocal during the FG/ASUU five face-off over non-implementation of the 2009 agreement was re-elected for another two years at the Biennial Congress of the Union held at the Faculty of Arts of the Premier University.

Dr Deji Omole emerged Secretary while Dr Peter Olapegba was elected internal auditor with Olisa Moujama emerging as Public Relations Officer. The Vice chairman is Prof M.G Olujide. Performing the traditional introduction of the elected officer, Ibadan Zonal coordinator of the union, Dr Nasir Adesola admonished members to work with the new leadership with a view to actualising the goals of the union for education and their members.

Responding, Dr Olusegun Ajiboye who thanked the congress for the confidence reposed in him promised to continue to stand for and fight for the welfare of members and qualitative education delivery for the poor in Nigeria. Ajiboye who promised not to disappoint the congress noted that it was a big challenge to head and intellectual union like ASUU.
