The Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, Akwa Ibom State Command, has deported 24 African nationals to their respective countries.
Mr. Garba Abdullahi, The state Comptroller of Immigration Service, said, “The NIS, Akwa Ibom State, has repatriated a total of 24 African nationals to their countries of origin, while one Nigerian from Akwa Ibom State was also repatriated home from Cameroon, through Oron Control Post.
“The command also refused entry of 96 nationals as follows: Cameroon, 89; Ghana, 2; and Mali, 5. This was done through the various control posts in the state for lack of travel documents.”
Abdullahi said that as election approaches, the command has adopted strategy to ensure that raids were carried out promptly to ensure that bad immigrants were repatriated to their countries of origin before they pose security risk to the state.
He added that the four stowaways, made up of three Ghanaians and one Ivorian, were returned to their countries, while the shipping company that brought them in was made to pay the carrier liability fine.
