A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has warned that disunity among the leaders of the party in the South-West geo political zone was capable of dimming the fortunes Yoruba land in the party if not urgently checked.

The party chieftain, who urged for the support of the new National Chairman, Adamu Muazu in his new assignment of putting the party in good shape for an optimal performance in the forthcoming polls, maintained that there was no way the South West could enjoy its rightful place within the party as a disunited entity.

The party chieftain in a statement in Ibadan on Thursday made available to journalists in Ibadan called for an all-inclusive summit, where the crises rocking the party in the South West would be addressed and appropriate measures taken to end them.

Acknowledging what he called series of reforms being undergone by the PDP in preparatory to the 2015 general elections, the party chieftain insisted that the South-West would not fit into the reform if the leaders could not speak with one voice.

Noting that the South-West PDP is peopled by experienced politicians with proven records of integrity and accomplishments in various fields of human endeavour, he said Muazu, a former Governor of Bauchi State “is a good choice for the post of the National Chairman of the party in this pre-election year.

"Given its vast wealth of experience in the public and private sectors, coupled with his good knowledge of the dynamics of power relations within the various hierarchy and organs of the party, he is eminently qualified to lead the party,” Oladimeji said.

He stressed the need for synchronization of the different views of party leaders in the zone with the aim of entrenching lasting peace and harmony which would position the party properly in its bid to reclaim the entire South-West in 2015.

According to him, it is high time the leadership of PDP in the South-West put machinery in motion to generate ideas and road map for further development of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Lagos States in line with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Yorubaland guided by the philosophy  and objectives of  the PDP.

“Yoruba people want real development and PDP has all it takes to catapult the region to the next level only if our leaders can bury their personal interests and agree to work together in all the states. “To ensure that PDP remains unbeatable, the era of PDP fighting PDP should be over,” he added.
