NIGERIA (Osun) - The Nigeria Police Force have commenced the training of over 60,000 anti-riot mobile Police officers ahead of the 2015 general elections in the country.
The above statement was said by the Commandant of the Police Mobile Training College, Ila-Orangun, Osun State, DCP Jackson El-Ekoh, while adding that the trainees were drawn from the 36 states of the federation and they will be deployed next year during the elections
He also said the training would be held in batches a directed by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar to ensure proper training for all Police officers that will participate in the future elections.
According to him, apart from training in the area of combat, they would be grounded in specialised courses in Electoral Act, Fundamental Human Rights, The Rule of Law, Democracy and Conflict Resolution, Crisis Management, Disaster Management and Operations, Bomb Awareness, Improvised Explosive Devices and Evacuation among others for a period of three months per batch.
The Police boss who read a riot act to the officers said those who fail to meet up with the standard of the Police after the training would be demobilised back to the conventional arm of the Force.
