The Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan has described as unfortunate and misuse of directive by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on the assault of the Oyo State Correspondent for Leadership Newspapers, Mr Adebayo Waheed.

The Church in a statement signed by its Media Officer, Chief Kayode Williams and Director of Social Communications, Reverend Father Mark Obayi, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Monday, regretted "this misbehaviour and is very sorry for this.

In the statement addressed to the victim and copied the Mr Gbenga Opadokun, NUJ Chairman and Mr Bisi Oladele, Chairman, Correspondents' Chapel, the Church assured that efforts would be made that this kind ugly incident will be avoided in future.It commended the victim for the matured way he handled the matter.
