Over one hundred and fifty protesting doctors were at the Governor’s office to register their displeasure over the incessant kidnap of doctors in the State.
The doctors had said that security situation in the state was not conducive for them to function hence their decision to withdrew services in all public, private and mission hospitals in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Tina Agbor , had while responding, noted that the State was safe for people to do their businesses, a statement that attracted angry reaction from the doctors.
The SSG statement provoked the Doctors and for over ten minutes, the doctors were on top of their voices, claiming that the comment was not true as the state had witnessed worst security situation under Governor Ben Ayade.
Shortly, after the doctors were calmed down by security personnel and other officials of government, the Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Dr Effiong Mkpanam presented a protest letter to the SSG for onward delivery to Governor Ayade.
