NIGERIA (Bayelsa)- Following the ongoing leadership crisis rocking the Bayelsa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has sent Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and zonal leader, Tom Ikimi, to resolve the issue.

This was confirmed by the Interim Chairman of APC in Bayelsa State, Richard Kpodo, in Yenagoa yesterday.

According to Mr. Kpodo, other members of the reconciliatory committee shall include South-South members of the Interim Committee of the party, adding that the decision will help to foster unity in the state’s chapter of the party.

Mr. Richard Kpodo also said that the same committee shall mediate in the crises rocking the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the party.

The committee will meet with the factions of the Bayelsa APC in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

“The only aspect of APC crisis in Bayelsa is that loyalists of former Gov Timpre Sylva want to hijack the party from us.

“We are hopeful that the committee will resolve the issues before the inauguration of the party in Bayelsa.

“What the APC national leadership is doing is to ensure internal democracy in the party at the state and national levels,” Mr. Ebikibina said.

Leadership tussle in the Bayelsa State Chapter of the party got messier to the point that Governor Seriake Dickson said the leadership of the party should come and resolve the problem as part of efforts to foster peace and tranquility in the state.
