NIGERIA (Adamawa)- A 14-man Interim Management Committee that will run the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has been inaugurated on Tuesday.

This follows an agreement by the leadership of the party in the state after the tension generated by the defection of Governor Murtala Nyako’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party was settled.

Before the coming of Gov. Nyako into the APC, the governorship candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change, CPC, Buba Marwa; and Markus Gundiri, the former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress Nigeria, ACN, were the arrow heads of the party and their positions was threatened by the arrival of the governor into the party.

Peace was restored into the party by the meeting which Gov. Nyako had with the leadership of the party on Sunday where he disclosed that he did not join APC to take it over.

While inaugurating the committee in Yola, the Interim National Vice-Chairma of the APC, North-East, Umar Duhu, said the inauguration was in line with the party’s constitution.

“Today is another milestone in the history of APC in Adamawa with the inauguration of its Interim Management Committee,” Duhu said.

Part of the duties of the committee, according to Duru, includes the registration of members of the party slated for February, the establishment of the party’s offices in 226 wards and the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, and many more.

In his inaugural speech, the Chairman of the committee, Kobis Aris,  said the team would do everything within its powers to register members and woo more people to the party.

Other members of the committee include Fati Ballah, Secretary; Musa Kamale, Treasurer, Abdullahi Bakari, Organising Secretary, and Salihu Ahmed, Publicity Secretary.

Others are Danboyi Jiddo as Youth Leader;  Titi Maliki as Women Leader and Saidu Naira, Wafarinyi Theman  and Fatima Mohammed as ex- officio members.
