NIGERIA (Kano)- The factory of Kanosan Ltd has been shut down by the Kano State Government over the death of three workers in the last one week.
The order was issued by the state’s Industrial Waste Committee Mobile Court after its inspection of the company’s treatment plant.
The closure was jointly announced by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and Tourism, Dr Abubakar Daburam and his counterpart at the Ministry of Environment, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.
According to Daburam, the closure of the company was ratified based on the outcome of an investigation conducted by a committee set up to unravel the mystery behind the issue.
The committee was tasked with the mandate of meeting the families of the deceased and designing ways of assisting them to secure their future.
The commissioner, however, charged all the existing factories in the state to adhere strictly to all laws safeguarding the lives of their workers, the environment of their immediate communities and the state at large.
